2018 Honda Fit LX vs 2017 Honda Fit LX: What Is New?

Serving Tewksbury, Lowell, and Lawrence, MA

The Honda Fit has been a leader in the subcompact category for several years now. This versatile hatchback gets a refreshed look and new features for 2018, a mid-cycle update for the third generation. Here’s how the updated Fit stacks up to the 2017 model.

Performance

The powertrain from the 2017 Honda Fit carries over for 2018: a 130-horsepower 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine paired with a six-speed manual transmission. Drivers can upgrade to a continuously variable transmission (CVT), which operates like an automatic; the CVT is standard on the EX-L trim. You’ll get 29/36 city/highway miles per gallon with the manual transmission and 33/40 city/highway mpg with the CVT.

Appearance

The biggest news for the 2018 Honda Fit is the introduction of the rugged new Sport trim. This Fit features more aggressive styling, with a new front and rear fascia, aero kit, 18-inch black gloss wheels, chrome-tipped exhaust, and integrated fog lights. Drivers can choose from new orange and yellow exterior paint, and each comes with orange contrast stitching throughout the interior.

All versions of the 2018 Fit also have a new two-piece piano black and chrome grille and are between 1 and 2 inches longer than last year’s version depending on the trim. You’ll notice an emphasized H logo with the redesigned headlights. Inside, a redesigned instrument cluster features a digital tachometer

In addition to the new Sport trim, a larger 7-inch touchscreen now comes standard with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, updated functionality for 2018. All trims of the 2018 Fit come standard with a backup camera, automatic headlights, Bluetooth®**, LED taillights, and a center console with an armrest, similar appointments to those in the 2017 model year.

Safety

The 2018 Honda Fit is expected to live up to the 2017 version of stellar safety scores.  In addition, driver assistance technologies such as collision mitigation, lane-keeping assist/warning, and adaptive cruise control are now available at every trim level; for 2017, they are available only on the higher trims. The 2018 version of the Fit makes updates and improvements to an already impressive vehicle, ideal for those who prefer a smaller car but want plenty of cargo space and high-tech features.
